Larry Janesky and Tom Casey
Dr. Energy Saver was formed when two New England tradesmen who were interested in home energy savings got together.
Tom Casey grew up in his family’s heating and cooling business, first carrying tools alongside his Dad when he was 11 years old. He took over the business when he was 21, and over the next 22 years, earned industry recognition by winning 10 national awards for comfort and energy conservation projects. Tom was named National Residential Heating and Cooling Contractor of the Year in 2001. Tom’s focus on energy savings began long before it caught on in the mainstream.
Larry Janesky started out as a 17-year-old self-employed carpenter. After building over 20 homes, he spent the next two decades building Basement Systems into an industry-leading company specializing in basement waterproofing, basement finishing, and crawl space repair. Today Basement Systems has over 300 dealers in 6 countries. Larry’s interest in building efficiency has lead him to write 3 books – Dry Basement Science, Crawl Space Science, and Basement Finishing Science, and develop an exclusive line of products protected with 25 patents.

Larry has always been interested in efficient building and energy conservation. He hired Tom’s company to do an energy assessment on his own home. When Tom found many ways to save energy and money, Larry was excited – and hooked. There are so many people who want to save energy but don’t know what to do. Tom and Larry knew that they had to form a company to make energy saving strategies clear and easily available to every homeowner. Dr. Energy Saver was born.
