Comment: I have drafty windows, drafty recess lights and a very drafty kitchen. My husband and I recently had blown-in insulation put in throughout the house, but the recent cold spell has exposed that it is still a very drafty house. We've replaced all but 9 windows in our 120-year-old house. Seven of them are street facing and the historic preservation board is very particular about repairs and replacements. We need help.

Comment: I will be renovating a large old carriage barn on my property in the West End of Hartford that is in poor condition. Phase I includes a new foundation, dry well, new overhead doors for three garages, and roof. Phase II will build a new, second-floor 600-800 sq. ft. apartment on the second floor that needs plumbing, heating and A/C from scratch. I am interested in radiant floor heating, or possibly geo-thermal. I would like to meet with a contractor who has the ability and interest to do this job.

Comment: My house was built in 1900 and only the south-facing kitchen windows have been replaced. Also, only of the 3rd floor(attic) is insulated. I was told by the CT Clean Energy Fund that they would not/could not do a free energy audit, with the vacuum test, because there is too much loose asbestos in the basement. The asbestos would get sucked up into the house and would pose a threat to us...

Comment: I received a certificate for a free home energy checkup, called to schedule, and was told to have my landlord call to grant permission. My landlord called, so I called back to schedule the appointment. Then I was told that tenants are not eligible. I'm more than happy to pass along any information given to me, but my landlord really doesn't get any savings benefits from these measures -- I, as the tenant, must pay the electric and fuel bill. I'm a little disappointed and will have to find another program that allows tenants to participate.
