What made you choose our company:
We chose Alber for two main reasons — maybe three. They offered installation of a catwalk, which was important to us for long-term attic access, and they provided R60 cellulose insulation, which was higher than other quotes at a similar price.
We had a great sales experience with James. He was the only provider who came to the house, took photos, and presented a detailed plan specific to our home. The crew itself was also better than many service providers we’ve had for other projects (contractors, electricians, crawlspace encapsulation, etc.). Everyone was kind and the quality of the work was solid.
The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 comes down to communication and guidance. I personally value a more “guided” experience — things like a team lead walking through the day’s plan, setting expectations on timing (what’s being done for the day), and proactively asking if I had questions.
There was an issue where I noticed insulation wasn’t properly installed on the upper level of the house. I reached out to James to verify this. The next day I asked Chris several questions and he was diligent in answering them, but I forgot to ask about the insulation. When I mentioned it, he quickly said, “Yeah, we’re going to fix that,” which I appreciated — but it hadn’t been proactively brought up beforehand. Although it was eventually resolved, it did leave me feeling like I needed to triple-check that everything on our quote was completed properly.
I know communication preferences vary, but I believe stronger proactive guidance is what would truly set a company apart.
A lot of these "house project providers" just want to come in, do the work -- their way, collect their money, and leave. The bedside manner is what's missing from the whole industry, in my opinion.
