Insulating an Attic in Lee, MA

This homeowner in Lee, MA called us hoping to get information about our mold remediation services. She had a large amount of mold in her attic. Fiberglass insulation is "mold food" and mold spreads easily in an attic if left untreated. On top of that, one of the biggest problems that was causing their mold problem was actually their inefficient insulation.

Luckily, Fogarty's Home Services had the perfect solution for this customer! We first removed all of the old insulation, preparing the attic for mold removal. After the mold was fully removed and treated, we began re-insulating the attic. We started with air-sealing all cracks and gaps with our ZypFoam™ one-part spray foam. We then installed our TiteShell™ can light covers over all can lights, sealing around them to ensure a tight fit. Then, we insulated the home using our blown-in TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. TruSoft™ insulation is blown into the attic, filling all gaps and odd shaped voids. Now, their home will be much more comfortable - and have less mold!

Insulating an Attic in Lee, MA

This homeowner in Lee, MA reached out to us hoping we would be able to replace his old, moldy attic insulation. Our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home and recommended some solutions for his issues, including the removal and replacement of the insulation.

In this solution, we first have to remove the old blown-in attic insulation using a long hose attached to a vacuum. Once the attic was cleaned, we started on air sealing the attic with Zypfoam one part spray foam. This seals all cracks and crevices in the attic floor. We then used a different long hose attached to a machine that blows our TruSoft™ cellulose insulation into the attic. TruSoft™ cellulose is able to fill all gaps and odd-shaped voids, as it is blown in insulation.

Now, this homeowner will have a much more comfortable home!

Installing a SuperAtticâ„¢ Advanced Conversion System in Monterey, MA

This homeowner called us because she was experiencing a lot of trouble with ice damming and overall energy efficiency. This particular homeowner happened to be friends with a previous customer of ours and was referred to us when she was discussing her issues with them. Unfortunately, Ice damming is a far too common concern for many New Englander's facing our unpredictable, often brutal weather patterns.

Our Building Science Specialist was able to quickly determine that the most effective way to handle this situation was to convert the existing, inefficiently insulated, vented attic space to an energy efficient SuperAttic™. First we removed all existing old and moldy batt insulation and treated the area with our MoldX2 Cleaner™ and MoldX2 Botanical™. The area was then ready for us to install our SuperAttic™ Advanced Conversion system with SilverGlo™ EPS panels across the roof rafter and gable end to create a conditioned area.

This home is now more energy efficient, resulting in lower energy bills, regulated airflow, and even added conditioned space in the attic that is ready for finishing! No more ice dams!

Reducing Cold Floors in Dalton, MA

This home owner call us out to see if we could help him with his cold floors. One thing we have to know when entering any home is stack effect. Warm air will rise and escape from the attic spaces and new air will enter the home from below. This air in the winter is freezing cold and in turn, make your floors very cold. To fix this we spray the rim joist with our 2-part spray foam. This seals up all the gaps and cracks so air will not be able to enter the home from the rim joist and make your floors cold. Now that this home owner got this project completed, he will not have to  worry about cold floor any longer!

Reducing Ice Damming in Dalton, MA

This home owner in Dalton, MA called us to his home to see if we could help him with his ice damming problem. When our building science specialist got to the home he noticed a couple of this that were allowing this ice damming problem to occur. One of these problems was that the skylights were letting a lot of heat conduct through the Skylight wooden framing. This was causing some serious snow melt on the roof.

To fix this we installed our Everlast Skylight Inserts. This insert has double pane glass with a very high UV rating to protect the home. Now that Dr Energy Saver came and installed these Skylight inserts and finished up a couple of other treatments at this home, this home owner will not have to worry about ice damning ever again!
