This homeowner in South Windsor, CT called us out to their home for a Home Energy Evaluation because their home was very cold and drafty. This home had some old, inefficient fiberglass without air any sealing in their attic. This allows conditioned or heated air that is paid for to escape the home. They also had an un-insulated HVAC system in the attic, which makes for major heat loss!
We first removed all of the old, fiberglass insulation and properly disposed of the materials. Now, we get to sprayfoaming the HVAC system. It is important to keep the heat coming off of it from entering the attic. Now we seal up all top plates, end plates, and any areas where air can escape from the home into the attic and be lost with foam.
This homeowner wanted to be able to still have a storage area so we built them an insulated catwalk space for them. Now, blow our TruSoft Cellulose insulation into the attic. Cellulose will fill in any odd-shaped voids and gaps. Now, thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this homeowner is happier, will be warmer, and is living more energy efficient!
The homeowners contacted Fogarty's Home Services to insulate knee walls in the attic that they were unable to reach. The roof is steep and the snow had been melting right down to the shingles. The rooms below the attic were always cold in the winter and the homeowners had to turn their heat on all the time.
After removing the old batt insulation, Fogarty's Home Services installed SilverGlo foam insulation panels to air-seal and insulate the area. This will reflect heat from the attic in the hot months and keep the warmer air inside the home in the cold months. This reduces the need to turn the heat on all the time, thus decreasing energy costs significantly, making the home and utility costs more comfortable for the homeowners.
Attic insulation in your home can get pretty nasty! Over many years it sits there collecting dirt, dust, pollen, bugs, rodent feces (from mice, squirrels, bats, etc.), bird droppings and nests and all kinds of undesirable things. We remove the old, nasty insulation from your home and start fresh. This is done prior to adding enough TruSoft™ blown cellulose insulation to today’s standards and proper air sealing.
Fogarty's Home Services will conduct the unpleasant task of removing the damaged, soiled insulation in your attic. Batt insulation is bagged and then the attic is vacuumed to remove pieces, parts and dust. Loose fill insulation is vacuumed with a giant vacuum located outside with giant filter bags and a very long, fat hose. The result is now your attic is clean and ready for proper air sealing and installation of clean, new, fresh TruSoft™ cellulose insulation to make your home more comfortable.
This homeowner in Higganum, CT called us out to their home for help with some sound reduction. Many homes have little to no wall insulation, and this can make it very noisy from one room to another.
We got to the home to help this homeowner. First, we drill holes in the walls as pictured in the "before" photo above. Now, we can insert our Cellulose hose into the holes and dense pack from the bottom of the wall, to the top, and over to the next hole until the walls are completely dense packed! Thanks to Dr Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this will result in drastic sound reduction, less drafts, and lower heating and cooling bills!
In the before photo you can see the drilled holes in the wall, and the after photo you can see the cellulose dense-packed into the walls before the hole is re-plugged and compounded over!
This home owner in Longmeadow, MA called us out to her home because of the ice damming problem that she had last year. This was occurring because the heat that she was paying for escaped into the attic and warmed up the roof deck. Now that the roof deck is warm. the snow starts melt and run down the roof until it hits the gutter line and refreezes. This is how ice dams are created.
To stop this from happening we have to properly air seal and insulate the attic space. To do this first we remove all the old fiberglass insulation. Then we vacuum out the attic and begin to airseal every penetration so no air can escape into the attic. Then we blow our Trusoft cellulose insulation to and R-value of R-60.
Now that Dr Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions has come and helped this home, this home owner will not have to worry about ice damming ever again!
