Comment: My wife and I purchased this home last summer. The existing central A/C was retrofitted into the home at some point in the 90s and the ducts were run in the ventilated attic. The A/C performance is not great. I've not measured the air temperature coming from the ducts, but it is noticeably warmer than the temperature I got from the system at our previous home. I'm interested in potentially treating the attic as conditioned space or perhaps building a bulkhead in the attic for duct work.

Comment: Our house is a nightmare when it comes to drafts and cold spots. We had a state company in to check out our situation and they blew in some insulation but still are walk in closet is cold, our bedroom obviously is cold, livingroom is cold, the other living room is cold and it's so aggravating. I just googled installation of attics to see if maybe I should put wood over my insulation to try to insulate the house more (I don't know why, just to see if I could find an answer) and I see that you just put the insulation down and that's it but now I'm wondering if Our lights & things are sealed. I'm retiring in 99 days & am trying to get some things taking care of, like cutting our costs & heating is a huge one!!! Thx!!
