Design Specialist Austin Burley went out to the home to conduct a free no-obligation estimate of the issue. After a thorough inspection, Austin recommended the Crawl Space Encapsulation service by DBS.

The first layer of crawl space encapsulation involves installing a layer of dimpled drainage matting to assist the flow of water underneath. Then a layer of TerraBlock™ foam insulation is installed as a barrier against frost. Finally, the previous layers are encased in a layer of CleanSpace® water vapor barrier. The crew also air-sealed the space with a polyurethane spray foam that expands into crevices as it is applied.

The crawl space has been thoroughly encapsulated and the homeowner will be able to relax more comfortably as their home retains cool air in the summer and warm air in the winter. They will also be happy to see lower energy bills as winter progresses.

Cathedral Ceilings Dense-Packed With DBS Tru-Soft™ Cellulose Insulation

The owners of this home in Saint Paul, MN experienced issues with keeping their house warm. They would raise the heat but all they got in return was high energy bills. Looking for a solution, the owners contacted DBS.

Design Specialist Austin Burley went to the home to conduct a free no-obligation estimate for the owners. After evaluation, he suggested the owners have insulation dense-packed into their cathedral-style ceilings to help insulate their roof.

Foreman Nick Woods II led the installation for this project with help from his crew. Together they drilled holes in each bay of the ceiling to dense-pack blown-in Tru-Soft™ cellulose insulation as the space in between the ceiling and roof was inaccessible. Tru-Soft™ cellulose insulation is more efficient than fiber-glass because it retains heat better and is also treated in a borate solution to prevent pests and acts as a fire-retardant. To finish the job the team sealed off each injection site with ZypFoam™ to completely air seal the space.

Now that the home has been properly insulated, the homeowners can relax comfortably as they experience lower energy bills and a warmer household.
