Park Point Home in Duluth, MN Gets Waterproofing System
These homeowners in Duluth, MN live on Park Point, a narrow strip of land that has Lake Superior on one side and the St. Louis Bay on the other. But being surrounded by water comes with its challenges. Concerned over water consistenly leaking in the basement, these homeowners knew they needed more protection for their home.
DBS Design Specialist Rich Johnsen is our expert in waterproofing and visited the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate. He proposed our WaterGuard® IOS system that is specifically designed to deal with iron ochre, a living bacteria that is common in Park Point ground water and is known for severely clogging drain systems.
A DBS foreman and crew installed a full WaterGuard® system, that sits flush with the floor and is completely hidden, directing all water to the home's existing sump pump and a new exterior drainage line. This was combined with CleanSpace® wall poly that will ensure that if moisture collects on the foundation wall, that it will be directed to the drain system and further to a new SuperSump® sump pump.

Wet Duluth, MN Basement Repaired With WaterGuard® and CleanSpace®
This Duluth, MN had been standing for 100 years when homeowners bought it in 2012. They started noticing water coming in through cracks in the north wall of the basement, leading to damage to the walls and floor. Looking for a permanent solution, they reached out to DBS after learning about us on local radio.
DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home and conducted a free, no-obligation estimate for the work in the basement. It was determined that a WaterGuard® drainage system would be dug around the perimeter of the basement, accompanied by the CleanSpace® vapor barrier on the wall.
DBS Field Supervisor Kevin Steffey was the foreman on the job, leading the production crew's installation of the mentioned products. The waterproofing system was completed with two sump pumps, SuperSump® Premier Pump System and an UltraSump®. Those pumps were connected to discharge lines, connected to IceGuard® drains to prevent wintertime freezing.
