This Holyoke, MN home was built in the year 2000. They contacted us specifically looking for solutions to preventing ice dams in their home.
Our Dr. Energy Saver® Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the insulation project. After inspecting the property and conducting an energy audit, it was determined that spray foam insulation and blown-in insulation in the attic were necessary to effectively insulate the space.
DBS Foreman Orrin Sundberg begain this insulation job by removing the existing fiberglass batting. His crew then completely air sealed the space with ZypFoam, concentrating on gaps in the building material and spaces surrounding the attic ducts.
From there, they applied 1 inch of spray foam to the roof deck. They then used our TruSoft™ cellulose, covering the roof deck in 18-inches of soft, yet dense insulation. TruSoft™ has a higher R-value than fiberglass and other cellulose materials, perfect for use in our northern climate. Tru-Soft™ cellulose is extra dense and made from recycled news paper. It's treated to be extremely resistant to heat and fire, making it a great companion for an attic space.
This home is now properly equipped to handle warm Minnesota summers and freezing winters with new attic insulation.
This Duluth, MN homeowner had issues with a failing foundation. Their block foundation was bowing inward and in a few places, the individual blocks were separating from the rest of the wall. As a result, water was leaking into the basement through the cracked foundation and causing damage.
DBS Sales Manager Royce Bunn visited the home and provided a thorough inspection and a free, no-obligation estimate for the bowing basement walls. He proposed our GeoLock™ Wall Anchor System and PowerBrace™ Wall Bracing System to permanently stabilize and restore the shifting foundation, as well as both interior and exterior waterproofing systems.
DBS Production Manager Kevin Steffey and his crew first excavated the soil around the home's exterior to prep for a wall straightening procedure. From there, they installed 7 PowerBrace I-beams, connecting them to the basement's concrete floor and ceiling joists. Initial tightening by our crew was done to immediately straighten the wall's position. Additionally, we used the GeoLock™ Wall Anchor System to secure the foundation block wall that had shifted the most.
After the wall staightening procedure, they added a waterproof membrane to the exterior foundation. This will prevent water from seeping into the foundation wall blocks.

Homeowners of this 1902 home in Superior, WI contacted DBS in need of a permanent solution for the cracking foundation walls in their basement. The horizontal cracks as seen in the before photo were causing leaking. The homeowner was tired of the water issues and wanted to protect their belongings.

Foreman Nick Burley and his crew installed four GeoLock™ Wall Plates and Earth Anchors to the failing foundation wall. This system uses heavy-duty anchors and connects them to plates on the wall interior wall. Connected with long, galvanized rods, these anchors are tightened to straighten the wall over time and provide maximum support.
To prevent water from flooding onto the basement floor, our team installed an interior waterproofing system. This included our interior drain tile WaterGuard®, connected to a new SingleSafe™ sump pump.
