Air Sealing the Crawl Space in Lanoka Harbor, NJ

After taking care of a water leak in his crawl space, this homeowner in Lanoka Harbor, NJ contacted our Crawl Space Division to come out and install new insulation throughout the area. First, we carefully removed all of the items and deteriorated insulation out of the crawl space and disposed of them properly. Next, we disinfected the area and then air sealed all the gaps and cracks in throughout the crawl space. This is going to eliminate air flow between the living space and the crawl space, improving energy efficiency.  Once we were finished, we installed ComfortTherm® insulation. ComfortTherm® insulation provides excellent temperature and noise control, and comes with a vapor-retarder for use in hot, humid climates. Now the homeowner has a clean, reinsulated crawl space.

Taking Out Contaminated Crawl Space Insulation in Freehold, NJ

A new client in Freehold, NJ, was in desperate need of new insulation in his crawl space. A short while ago, a pipe burst, flooding the entire crawl space. The pipe was repaired, but the insulation got saturated. Fortunately, mold hasn't developed yet, but if not treated immediately, it's only a matter of time until it does!  First, we removed all the contaminated insulation from the crawl space and disposed of it properly. Afterward, we wiped down all the joists and installed ComfortTherm® insulation. ComfortTherm® insulation provides excellent temperature and noise control and comes with a vapor retarder for use in hot, humid climates. Next, we installed SilverGlo™ on the walls of the crawl space. SilverGlo™ is a waterproof foam insulation that seals the walls from outside moisture and humidity. Lastly, we installed a Sani-Dry Sedona commercial-grade dehumidifier to control the humidity levels in the crawl space. The Sedona directs the extracted water pulled out of the air directly into the sump pump, which will also maintain the humidity levels in the crawl space.

Replacing the Crawl Space Door with an Everlastâ„¢ in Island Heights, NJ

Our Crawl Space Solutions team was sent out to a home in Island Heights, NJ to replace a broken crawl space door. Broken or damaged crawl space doors create significant issues, including moisture intrusion leading to mold and wood rot, pest infestations (like rodents or termites), energy loss, and structural damage from water or humidity. These issues often result in increased energy bills, poor air quality, and, in severe cases, sagging floors and foundation problems. To fix that, we removed the broken crawl space door and replaced it with an Everlast™ door. An Everlast™ door is made from ½-in.-thick PVC plastic that will never warp, crack, shrink, require maintenance or painting and will prevent any unwanted pests and moisture from entering the crawl space.

Wet Crawl Space Gets Cleaned and Encapsulated in Far Hills, NJ

Tired of dealing with wet and dirty crawl space, this customer in Far Hills, NJ, reached out to Crawl Space Solutions by Cowleys and wanted us to encapsulate his crawl space! Dirt floor crawl spaces attract and absorb moisture and once the dirt dries, it causes humidity levels to rise and can lead to mold and mildew issues (fortunately, there was no mold or mildew in the crawl space). First, we removed all the debris and old insulation, leveled the ground for proper draining, and installed drainage matting, which is a dimpled plastic mat that allows all excess moisture to work its way over to the sump pump. We also cleaned off all the beams in the crawl space and installed SilverGlo™ on the walls of the crawl space. SilverGlo™ is a waterproof foam insulation that seals the walls from outside moisture and humidity. Afterward, we installed a vapor barrier. A vapor barrier is a heavy-duty, 20-mil 7-ply sandwich of high and low-density polyethylene with a polyester-cord reinforcement. By encapsulating the crawl space & installing the vapor barrier over the foundation walls and floor will create a continuous air and moisture barrier. The vapor barrier is extremely durable and is treated with an antimicrobial to prevent mold. Lastly, to control the humidity levels in the crawl space, we installed a Sedona dehumidifier. This is a powerful, energy-efficient, commercial-grade dehumidifier that outperforms standard household dehumidifiers by as much as 10 times while using the same amount of energy to run. Now the homeowner has no longer has a dirty, dirt-floored crawl as well as an additional area in their home for storage!
