Treating and Insulating an attic in Windsor Locks, CT

This Homeowner in Windsor Locks, CT was putting away storage during the holidays and realized that the attic was not properly insulated. They were running ducts through the attic which is vented. The ducts were being exposed to extreme temperatures making it tougher to heat and cool the home. They also had a mold issue, which can be very dangerous!

The old, fiberglass insulation in their attic was ineffective and needed to be removed completely. We removed the insulation and the attic was vacuumed. Then, we spray our Mold-X2 to to kill and stop all mold spores from growing! Now, we had a clean work space, to start installing the foam insulation board. We got to work installing our SilverGlo graphite infused foam insulation board, across the roof rafter and Gable end. The foil on the foam board reflects heat out in summer, and keeps the warm air in during winter. The roof is still vented, and stays cold in winter to prevent ice damming. Now the attic is a conditioned space, and the ducts don't have to work so hard because the environment is at a maintained temperature. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, these homeowners will have a more comfortable home, lower energy bills and a storage space in the attic!

Insulating a Rim Joist in Windsor Locks, CT

This homeowner in Windsor Locks, CT called us hoping to talk about his attic insulation. An inspection of the home revealed issues with the ventilation in his attic. They had an addition that was added on over 45 years ago, and the issues started around that time. When our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home, he spoke to the homeowners about other issues that were happening in the home. They mentioned that the basement was very damp and humid. It had a strong, musty odor, and they had high energy bills.

We had the perfect solution for this customer! We utilized two-part expanding spray foam. We insulated the rim joist (the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the home). We spray this foam in the rim joist and over the sill plate. Insulating the rim joist in this way seals all air leaks -- filling in the cracks and gaps that are present there. This prevents outside air from getting into the home. The homeowner is now very happy, and he is much more comfortable in his home!

We had the perfect solution for this customer. Our solution is the the SuperAttic™ advanced conversion system. In this solution, SilverGlo™ EPS foam insulation board with graphite is installed on the underside of the roof deck. The attic is clean, less dusty and suitable for storage. The homeowner can even finish their attic!
