Mold and Mildew Leaving Funky Smells in This Basement

This Yarmouth, ME, homeowner had an issue with water getting into their basement and causing issues with mold and mildew that led to a funky smell in the basement. Ready to tackle the issue and make the space comfortable to use again, the homeowner reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Ken Castillo met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a waterproofing system that was specific to their home and would address all of their issues at once.

WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the basement to capture groundwater and channel it to the brand new SuperSump Plus. The WaterGuard is installed under the slab and features Ports for easy maintenance. The SuperSump Plus is capable of taking the water that is channeled to it and pumping it out of the basement through a Buried Discharge Line that is protected from ice buildup with IceGuard. In high-traffic areas such as doorways and appliances, TrenchDrain was installed and connected to the WaterGuard to ensure all water is being channeled to the sump. BrightWall Panels were installed on the walls, which act as a vapor barrier and integrate into the WaterGuard to capture any water seepage from the walls. BrightWall covers the old wall, leaving a bright white finish that helps to reflect light and illuminate the basement more. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to keep humidity at a safe level and prevent mold and mildew from causing issues for the homeowner. Typically, homeowners have to empty a bucket of water to keep their dehumidifier working, but with the SaniDry Sedona, it drains directly to the SuperSump Plus, meaning the homeowner can travel without worrying about moisture in their basement. Now the basement is revitalized, and the homeowner is protected from moisture and water problems and can use their basement how it’s intended to be used.

Waterproofing Before a New Slab Floor

This Leeds, ME homeowner was on their wits' end after having their walls and floors ruined because of their basement flooding. They wanted to be able to finish the space and actually use it instead of their basement being an object for nightmares. Exhausted and ready to solve their water intrusion problems, the homeowner booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Nick Ciciarelli met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a waterproofing system specifically designed for their home.

Wanting their basement dry all the time, they opted for a full Slab with WaterGuard system to ensure they can finally remodel their basement without the risk of their work being ruined by water. A lot of work goes into prepping the basement for the new system, starting with Drainage Matting being laid down. Drainage Matting creates an inorganic barrier between the new slab and the outside elements while aiding in channeling water to prevent hydrostatic pressure from building up. WaterGuard is installed around the perimeter to capture water and channel it to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe Sump Pump is capable of taking all the water and pumping it out of the basement through the new Exterior Buried Discharge Line. The Buried Discharge Line takes the water far from the home where it won’t cause any issues, and with the installed IceGuard, the system is protected against ice build-up, keeping the system running all year, even during freezing winter months. To finish the waterproofing system, the slab will be poured and a SaniDry XP will be installed to keep humidity levels at a safe level. The SaniDry XP drains to the TripleSafe so the homeowner will never have to worry about emptying a bucket of water, and the SaniDry XP can do its job all the time.

Now the homeowner can remodel their basement and be confident that their basement will be dry all the time.

WaterGaurd With a SuperSump Will Keep This Basement In Durham, NH Dry

WaterGuard Installation Protects Durham, ME Basement from Standing Water

Even with a sump in their basement floor, this Durham, ME homeowner would still find standing water gathering on the floor. Tired of needing to vacuum this water out themselves, the homeowner contacted us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to see if we could provide a solution to their problem. After receiving their free estimate, this homeowner gave us the go-ahead to begin work on their basement. As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started on the basement floor by excavating the perimeter to create room for our WaterGuard piping to be laid. Buried below a fresh layer of concrete around the perimeter of the floor, these pipes will capture moisture entering the basement through the foundation. The trapped moisture will flow through the WaterGuard to the nearby SuperSump pump that was connected directly to the piping. This new pump will force the water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line at a rate over 2,600 gallons per hour. Finally, IceGuard and LawnScape pipe segments were attached to the discharge line to provide further protection. The IceGuard section gives any water blocked by ice a path to escape the line before backing up into the home while the LawnScape end piece covers the line with a grate to keep out any debris that may cause blockages.

With the WaterGuard gathering leaking moisture and the SuperSump removing it from the home, this homeowner should no longer find their basement flooded after any rainfall!

CleanSpace Wall System Saves New Vineyard, ME Basement

Homeowners from New Vineyard, ME reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for help with their wet basement. The homeowners observed some cracking in the foundation that was allowing water to seep into their space. Our System Design Specialist Adam H. visited their basement for a free estimate on the repairs needed.

The homeowner wanted the basement to be dry all of the time, so they did not want to cut any corners. WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the basement to collect and channel water. In high-traffic areas such as entrances TrenchDrain was installed and connected to the WaterGuard. The water has to go somewhere, so the homeowner chose a SuperSump for the job. The SuperSump takes the water and pumps it through an Exterior Buried Discharge line, which gets the water far away from the home. To prevent ice buildup and keep the system running at 100% during the winter months, IceGuard was installed on the Discharge line. CleanSpace Wall System was installed along the walls and attached to the WaterGuard. CleanSpace Wall System acts as a vapor barrier and channels any moisture coming in from the wall to the WaterGuard. Now our homeowners no longer have to fight their wet basement and have confidence they can use the space safely!
