On the day of the install our Home Comfort Technicians began by removing all of the old vapor barrier from the crawl space and laying in our CleanSpace vapor barrier, which keeps moisture and pest from entering the crawl space from the ground up. The next step was sealing all of the external walls with spray foam, this process closes all the vents that allow air to move into the crawl ad well as insulating the area. Our final step is installing a dehumidifier to regulate the humidity in the crawl to a consistent 50-55%.
The homeowner noticed an immediate difference in the homes temperature and is now comfortable regardless of the temperature outside.

This house in Millersville, Maryland was having a hard time keeping all of its rooms a constant temperature. The upstairs would be hot while the downstairs would be freezing. The homeowner heard that there were companies who fixed these kinds of problems and among them he found Complete Home Solutions. Our auditor won him over with his attention to detail and ability to explain things in understandable terms.
Once there, we discovered that his crawl space was not up to snuff. There was no air sealing, no vapor barrier, and the duct work was left exposed. All of these things were contributing to the homeowner's discomfort. We fixed these problems by sealing off all openings in the crawl with polysio foam board and spray foam/caulk, installing a 6 mil vapor barrier, and insulating the duct work with spray foam. Now that he has a crawl space has stopped letting cold air flood in, the homeowner can enjoy a comfortable temperature no matter where he is in his house.
A lack of air sealing and not enough insulation is a bad combination that you, and your house, will suffer from. This client could not stand how uncomfortable her house was (cold in the winter, hot in the summer, you get it). Her attic was the major causes behind her discomfort. Luckily, for a company like Complete Home Solutions, this is an easy fix. We sealed up the attic and put in enough cellulose insulation to bring the insulation levels up to R-49 (the recommended levels for our climate zone). The end result - a much more comfortable home for this client.
