These Duluth, MN homeowners needed a year-round solution for making their home more comfortable. The wintertime made their kitchen and living areas cold and drafty, and caused certain rooms to heat up in the summertime as well. After 25 years in the home, and plans to live there for many more, these homeowners reached out to DBS for a permanent solution.
A Dr. Energy Saver® Design Specialist went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the work. After inspecting the property and conducting an energy audit, it was determined that air sealing, and a combination of rigid foam and blown-in insulation were necessary to effectively seal the space.
Our production crew first removed the existing insulation and sealed the gaps in building material and spaces surrounding the attic ducts with ZypFoam™. From there, the applied TerraBlock™ directly to the super deck in the attic. They also blew-in a heavy layer of our TruSoft™ cellulose into the space. TruSoft™ has a higher R-value than fiberglass and other cellulose materials and will work wonders to protect the space.
Sealing the attic was key to prevent warm air from escaping the home, and improves the overall energy-efficiency and health of the space.
Homeowners in Duluth, MN were in the process of finishing their garage but needed a solution for insulation to be able to use the space year-round.
Our Dr. Energy Saver® Design Specialist visited the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the insulation work. Because the garage already had drywall up, our production crew drilled holes into the drywall and dense-packed it with our ultra-dense Tru-Soft™ cellulose. This insulation is fire-resistant and has an R-value much higher than fiberglass, and most rigid foam insulations.
These homeowners can now enjoy a comfortable garage space year-round for projects, and all their storage needs.
Owners of this home in Duluth, MN now use the property for vacationing during the summer months. They have owned the home for close to 50 years but have noticed some dramatic shifting and cracking in the home's foundation. The homeowners learned about DBS via a recommendation from another company and contacted us for a permanent solution.
DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate. It was determined that a lift procedure was needed to address foundation settlement, as well as some supplemental support. Zach Royer and his production crew installed a 14-ft support beam beneath the home and then drove 2 HelixPro® piers into the ground to support the structure. These piers are driven through the soil, down to the strata layer of rock, providing solid support to the home.
The homeowners were happy with the work done and can now enjoy a safe and supported vacation home for years to come!
