This homeowner in South Range, WI was experiencing uncomfortable conditions in their home for years. After meeting us at the Duluth Home Show, the decided to tackle their unsealed crawl space. Water was pooling in the space causing humid air to enter the home in the summer months and cold air during winter months.
DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate for a total crawl space encapsulation. After the inspection, he recommended a bit of supplemental support to address some sinking, as well as CleanSpace® vapor barrier as well as sump pump in the space to tackle the water issues.
DBS Foreman Orrin Sundberg used our TerraBlock™ foam insulation to insulate the walls and rim joists, and finished the job by sealing everything in a layer of closed-cell spray foam. These two insulations will work together to keep moisture and cold air from penetrating the rest of the home.
From there, Foreman Taylor Allen and his crew completed the crawl space encapsulation. The team installed 3 SmartJack® support beams to address the sinking ceiling. They then put down a drainage matting, followed by our ultra durable CleanSpace® vapor barrier, and a Triple Safe™ sump pump. This crawl space drainage system is specially designed for crawl spaces and was connected to two discharge lines that will carry the water up and out of the home.
Longtime owners of this family cabin in Sandstone, WI were concerned over noticeable sinking and settling. Sagging support beams were causing the floor of the home's main level to sink.
DBS Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer visited the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the support work in the crawl space. It was determined that the crawl space would have SmartJack® support beams installed to lift and support the sagging crawl space ceiling.
DBS Foreman Zach Jorenby and his production crew installed 24 feet of supplemental support beam, as well as 4 Smart Jack® support beams to restore the crawl space and provide proper support to the rest of the home.
After the support work, our crawl space encapsulation crew also installed a vapor barrier to protect the cabin's infrastructure from water and rot damage in the future.
This family can now rest easy knowing their favorite retreat is protected for years to come.
A Gilbert, MN homeowner was in need of a solution to curb high energy bills. They were using a whopping 400 gallons of propane monthly to heat their home throughout the winter. In order to gain insight on a more sustainable solution for year-round living, they contacted DBS.
Dr. Energy Saver® Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer visited the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for our insulation services. Henry determined that adding our Tru-Soft™ cellulose would provide tremendous support in the home's radiant barrier.
Foreman Orrin Sundberg and his crew production crew drilled holes into the drywall in several areas throughout the home to prep for dense packing. Once the insulation was blown into place, our crews add a temporary patch to be replaced with a more permanent wall patch by the homeowner.
Tru-Soft™ cellulose insulation is fire-resistant and has an R-value much higher than fiberglass, and most rigid foam insulations. This homeowner was thrilled with the work done to improve conditions in their home and lower their sky-high heating bills.
