DBS Foreman Zach Jorenby and his basement repair crew installed supplemental supports for the sinking floor joists, as well as our SmartJack® System. Each SmartJack® vertical support beam is secured to the basement ceiling, as sealed with concrete into the basement floor. Made from galvanized steel, these beams are adjusted with a heavy-duty threaded rod to meet any basement or crawlspace ceiling. Once installed, they offer permanent stabilization. 

Homeowners in Ashland, WI had concerns about their foundation. They noticed some sinking and settling, as well as drywall cracking on the interior of the home. Looking for a permanent solution, they reached out to DBS for more information about our foundation support systems.

This classic craftsman-style home in Ashland, WI is over 100 years old. Over time, the south side of the foundation has sunk around 7 inches. Because the interior walls we badly cracking, they needed to stabilize them before doing any work on the exterior of the home. The team installed 3 steel beams to make up our PowerBrace™ Wall Bracing system. These beams are tightened to stabilize the wall and potentially push it back to its original position. 

The cracked and bowing walls are now stable and permanently protected from wall failure.

The front of this Minneapolis, MN home was settling. Its lower and upper porches were supported by the same columns. Due to shifting soils, the columns had dropped over time, causing the porch system to pull away from the home. The weight of this porch was transferred to the piers for a permanent solution to foundation settlement.

This homeowner in Aurora, MN had previously noticed cracks in their basement wall and had installed a block column thinking it would stop the wall movement. After realizing this solution is not a permanent fix, the homeowner contacted DBS for a trusted, permanent repair of the wall.

Rich then decided the installation of our PowerBrace® system and CarbonArmor® behind the pipes would be the best solution for the permanent stabilization of the wall. CarbonArmor®  is 10 times stronger in tension than steel, designed specifically for basement walls, and the low-profile design makes it perfect to use behind pipes. 

DBS foreman and crew then came out to the house and installed both the PowerBrace® and CarbonArmor® systems to permanently stabilize the wall. The crew also installed  SprayFoam insulation at the rim joists to better insulate the basement. 

The homeowner can now enjoy their basement with peace of mind that their basement wall is permanently stabilized and well insulated.
