We were sent out on a service call to home in Metuchen, NJ, to handle a hornet problem. Apparently the homeowner was attacked and stung by several angry hornets as soon as he opened his bedroom window. Once we arrived, we found an active bald-faced hornets nest underneath the soffit right above the master bedroom window!

Bald-faced hornets are social stinging insects that are a close relative to yellow jackets. The surface of their upper midsection almost looks triangular from the side, and they have white markings on their face. They build paper nests at least three or more feet off of the ground, usually in trees, shrubs, overhangs, houses, or other structures. One very important fact that you must know about bald-faced hornets is that they are EXTREMELY aggressive and will not hesitate to sting anything that invades their space.

For treatment, we injected a knockdown dusting application directly into the opening of the nest. This treatment rapidly neutralizes the bald-faced hornets. After a few moments went by, we removed the nest, disposed of it, and applied a residual application to the area that'll neutralize any returning bald-faced hornets and prevent any future stinging insects from building another nest.

Previously, one of our pest control technicians had removed all of the mice that were infesting the crawl space of this home in Metuchen, NJ. Now we were sent out to prevent them from getting back into the home! 

The way the mice were getting into the property was by squeezing underneath the door jam to the crawl space. So we fashioned a piece of white, sturdy metal flashing and installed underneath the door jam. This will prevent mice and other pests from entering the crawl space.

Recently, we were sent out to a home in Sayreville, NJ to handle a potential infestation of raccoons in the attic. As we started inspecting the property, we noticed that the attic fan was damaged. We took a closer look and found raccoon paw prints nearby and hair stuck in the attic fan. First, we installed a temporary attic fan cover over the attic fan and attached a two-gaited, heavy-duty device to it. The raccoons will have no other way to exit the area, except through our device, which will safely retrieve the raccoon. We also placed several baited traps nearby.

A short while later, we safely retrieved all the raccoons and safely relocated them to a new, humane environment. We then disinfected the attic and installed a sturdy attic fan cover over the attic fan. The attic fan cover is made of heavy-duty 18 Gauge expanded Galvannealed steel mesh and will prevent raccoons, as well as all nuisance wildlife, from gaining access into the home via the attic fan. 

As we were treating this home in Manalapan, NJ we found an interesting pest in the basement - cave crickets! In fact, it was a massive infestation of them throughout the area! Many people refer to them as "sprickets," because they look like a cross between a spider and cricket. Truth is, they aren't arachnids. They're also know as camel crickets because of their humpbacked appearance, which resembles a camel. They are commonly found in caves, as well as damp, cool areas underneath damp leaves, stones, and rotting logs. In homes, the most popular areas they like to invade are basements and crawl spaces (because they are dark and moist).

Camel Crickets do NOT bite, as they have no fangs, nor do they pose any health risks to humans. In fact, their only means to defend themselves is the ability to jump really high to scare off predators. To exterminate the cave crickets, we treated the entire with a granular bait and a liquid non-repellant. Both products will eliminate the cave crickets & prevent them from reinfesting the area.

This customer in Manalapan, NJ had a big problem. Turkey vultures were roosting on his roof and defecating all over it. This posed not only a health hazard to the family, but also was severely damaging the roof! 

In order to safely and effectively keep the turkey vultures off the roof, we installed Shock Track. Shock Track is a unique electrically charged track that imparts a mild electrical shock when the turkey vultures land on them. The shock will not harm them but will condition them to avoid the area. The shock track gets affixed to roof, with no screws, and is connected to a solar-powered charger. Now the turkey vultures are properly excluded from the roof.
