The cost of home heating oil was killing this client's budget. Her old oil boiler provided both heat and hot water so it ran at 180-degrees all year long including the summer. The Bosch Combi boiler provides heat and hot water at 95% efficiency using inexpensive natural gas. And it only runs when there is a demand instead of wasting all the fuel being hot 24/7. It also varies the temperature of the boiler water sent to the radiators based on the outdoor temperature. this is a great feature that increases efficiency and prevents overheating in mild weather.

This boiler was installed several years ago by a competitor. The house never heated correctly after it was installed! An inspection revealed that it was not piped correctly per the manufacturer's instructions. It also wasn't vented correctly. Steam won't move if air can't move so venting is critical. We piped the boiler correctly and added all new Hoffman steam vents on the mains and radiators. Magically (not really), the house is heating perfectly and his gas bills will be 30% less than he paid last year. Don;t trust anyone other than Alber Service Company with your steam heating system!

This long term client was starting to develop mold in his basement. He had always had a moisture issue but it was under control with a sump pump, perimeter drain, and a cheap dehumidifier. The summer of 2025 has been really hot and humid, though, and the old dehumidifier was just plain worn out. The fact that it was leaking onto the floor didn't help either.

The problem was solved by three measures:

1. Covering his sump pump pit with a sealed cover to prevent evaporation into the basement.

2. Sealing the wooden rims of the basement to prevent outside air from leaking into the basement.
