Insulating a Basement in Westfield, MA

This homeowner in Westfield, MA called us hoping we could replace part of his rim joist and sill plate. They had had an inspection, and a 30-foot section in the back of the home had been identified as a problem. Humidity had destroyed it, and it needed to be replaced. At the same time, they wanted their insulation replaced. In addition to the humidity problem, they had a rodent issue that they wanted addressed.

We had the perfect solution for this customer! We utilized two-part expanding spray foam. We insulated the rim joist (the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the home). We spray this foam in the rim joist and over the sill plate. Insulating the rim joist in this way seals all air leaks -- filling in the cracks and gaps that are present there. This prevents outside air from getting into the home. The homeowner is now very happy, and he is much more comfortable in his home!

Installing a Door in Westfield, MA

This homeowner in Westfield, MA originally called us looking for help with his basement insulation. He was having home comfort and humidity issues. He also had a rodent issue that needed to be addressed. When our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home, he noted that there was no door after the bulkhead door -- meaning that there was no barrier between the outside air and the interior of the home.

We had the perfect solution for this customer. In this solution, we installed an insulated exterior door. The proper framing is installed, followed by a new door with a locking knob. Result - warmer basement and floors over the basement, drier basement in summer, lower fuel and electric costs, less drafts, house easier to heat, more security.

Insulating an Attic in Westfield, MA

This homeowner in Westfield, MA texted our office hoping to get a quote for attic insulation. His schedule was very unpredictable and busy, so he needed flexibility with appointment times. However, he felt that the attic insulation was very important, and he knew he needed help. He had almost no attic insulation, and he was feeling the effects.

We were able to help this customer! We were able to replace the attic insulation with TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. We started by removing the old blown-in insulation using a large vacuum. We then went in and air-sealed around all of the points where air leaks up from the home to the attic. We did this using our Zypfoam™ spray foam. Once the atitc is air sealed, we used a long hose to blow in TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. TruSoft™ is amazing -- it does not burn, get moldy, or attract pests. The blown-in insulation fills all gaps and oddly shaped voids. The homeowner is now much more comfortable in his home!

Encapsulating a Crawl Space in Shelburne Falls, MA

This homeowner in Shelburne Falls, MA called us when she realized that half of her home was uninsulated. She was hoping to get a whole-home energy evaluation as well as get the home insulated. When our Home Comfort Specialist arrived, we noted that there were several issues with the home - including the fact that her crawlspace was not encapsulated.

We began with insulating the crawl space's walls using SilverGlo™ foam insulation board. SilverGlo™ foam has graphite infused into the foam to increase the R-value by 24% over standard foam. We then laid out a dimpled plastic drainage mat across the floor, and installed TerraBlock™ floor insulation over it. On top of all of that, the CleanSpace™ crawl space encapsulation liner was installed permanently across it. The crawlspace is now clean and insulated -- protecting this customer's home from the temperature fluctuations, humidity, and pests outside!
