Wanting to figure out where this problem spot was, he asked Complete Home Solutions to perform an energy audit for his home. 

We found that, although the attic did indeed have insulation, it was actually still leaking air in and out of the home, causing major discomfort. The way to correct this attic so that it facilitated a more comfortable home was to air seal all of the floor joists in the attic and to install more loose fill cellulose insulation. The homeowner was pleasantly surprised by the difference that these changes made to the overall comfort in his home.

On the day of the job our Home Comfort Technicians began by installing our 20mill CleanSpace Vapor Barrier, which seals the crawl from any ground moisture as well as pests. The next step was to spray foam all of the walls and vents. By sealing the vents it eliminates any outside air from entering the space, and foaming the a walls creates a fully insulated area. The final step was to install a dehumidifier which regulates the humidity in the crawl space to between 50-55%. 

The homeowner noticed a difference immediately and cant wait to see how it improves the homes comfort in the other seasons.

Anthony recently added an addition to his Upper Marlboro, MD home.
