Crawl Encapsulation in Upper Marlboro, MD

This Upper Marlboro homeowner called in saying that they were worried that their crawl space insulation and vapor barrier was dated and in desperate need of an upgrade. Our Home Comfort Specialist, James, went out to their home to investigate and find out how we could help. After a thorough inspection, James confirmed their fears that the insulation was in need of an upgrade along with a new vapor barrier. Next, our Home Comfort Technicians, lead by Alfredo, dive into the crawl and begin removing the old insulation and vapor barrier. Once removed, we install the new 20 millimeter vapor barrier in order to block moisture from rising into the conditioned space. We follow that up with installing a dehumidifier, this way, we can allow air to constantly move and not sit still causing mold issues. The final step is to spray foam the exterior walls of the crawl space. The spray foam will act as an insulator and block any moisture that will eventually seep through the foundation.

The happy homeowner loved the look of their new crawl and loved seeing their energy bill go down even more!

New Attic Insulation in Hanover, MD

This homeowner in Hanover, Maryland had a problem. His house was always cold. He knew he had insulation in his attic already and couldn't figure out what the problem was. That's why he called up Complete Home Solutions to come check it out.

We were able to determine that although there was insulation, there was no air sealing. That's why you can see discoloration in the "before" picture. There's nothing stopping air from flowing out through the attic and filtering through the insulation. We removed the old BATT insulation, air sealed the attic floor and walls with caulking, and installed new cellulose insulation. Voila! We have a warm, comfortable home.

Crawl Space Vapor Barrier in Hughesville, MD

This home in Hughesville, Maryland suffered from extremely cold floors. The homeowner would try to blast the heat, but cold air always managed to find its way in. She finally go into contact with a professional to help fix her problem...Complete Home Solutions.

We performed an energy audit and found that the crawl space needed to be air sealed. This not  only prevents cold air from escaping into the house, but it also stops moisture from evaporating into the house. We accomplish this by installing a vapor barrier over top of the dirt floor and sealing it to the walls with caulk. This homeowner no longer has to blast her heat to be comfortable in her home.

Great New Attic Insulation in Odenton, MD

This homeowner in Odenton, Maryland had signed up to get an energy audit with us a couple of months ago. She was concerned about the result of the audit and what it meant for her house, but convinced herself that she could put off doing the work. However, once that first snow came around and the cold weather hit, she realized her mistake. Her house was freezing cold and she really needed that work to get done.

Complete Home Solutions came out and gave her exactly what she needed. The attic was practically barren, except for some old insulation that really wasn't doing much of anything to help the house. So, we did a lot of air sealing (mainly using caulk) to prevent all of those open cavities and penetrations from leaking air out, sealed and insulated the duct work that was up there with 1" closed cell spray foam, and added a bit of blown in cellulose insulation. Now this homeowner can enjoy her house this winter, rather than shivering from cold and running up her utility bills.

Cellulose Attic Insulation in Odenton, MD

Proper air sealing and insulation in the attic is a critical part of maintaining a controlled environment in your home. This home just wasn't up to par in either regard and the homeowner was suffering because of it. This summer has been especially hot, giving the homeowner extra incentive to get her attic treated.

CHS came out and sealed along all of the rim and band joists in the attic to stop air from leaking in and out. We also added blown in cellulose-insulation, which has a dense packing property that works with the air sealing to provide a thermal barrier for the home.
