After dealing with a hot attic in the summer and a freezing one in the winter, this homeowner in Rumson, NJ decided it was time to add so much needed blown-in cellulose insulation to the attic. Since he is a current Home Protection Plan customer of our Pest Control division, he was aware that we had an entire Attic Systems division! So he called our office, scheduled an appointment, and we were sent out. 

As we inspected the attic, we noticed that a majority of the fiberglass insulation was deteriorated, due to age, and is now ineffective. As fiberglass insulation ages, it degrades, leaving gaps where air can escape. In other words, your heater or air conditioner needs to work even harder to maintain the temperature inside your home! So we carefully removed all of the old fiberglass insulation and properly disposed of it. Next, we placed several measuring sticks throughout the attic to ensure that the proper amount of R-value is added to the attic.

Next, we air sealed all the gaps and cracks in the attic. This will eliminate air flow between the living space and the attic, improving energy efficiency. Lastly, we added over 10 inches of TruSoft blown-in cellulose insulation. TruSoft blown-in cellulose insulation maximizes home comfort, has the highest Class-1 fire safety rating & is resistant to mold and pests. Now the homeowner has a transformed attic space that is newly insulated & energy efficient.

A short while ago, this client in Avon by the Sea, NJ, had a raccoon infest his attic. Although our Little Rascals Nuisance Wildlife team safely removed and relocated the raccoon to a new, humane location, it had defecated all over the attic and contaminated the insulation. So, we were sent out to clean the area and install new insulation.

First, we will remove and dispose of all the contaminated insulation from the attic. Next, we disinfected the area and then installed ComfortTherm® insulation.
