Stopping Ice Dams and Eliminating Drafts in Canonsburg, PA 15317

Theresa reached out after dealing with severe ice damming along the roof, along with cold floors, drafts, and high energy bills. Ice dams are more than just a roof issue. They’re a sign that heat is escaping into the attic.

When we evaluated the home and found that air leakage was allowing warm air to rise into the attic, warming the roof deck and causing snow to melt and refreeze at the edges.

Our team focused on stopping that heat loss at the source. We sealed attic air leaks, sealed top plates and key leakage areas, addressed chimney-related air leakage, and insulated the attic access opening; one of the most overlooked sources of energy loss.

By tightening the attic system, we reduced the amount of heat escaping into the attic and helped restore proper performance. Now the home holds temperature better, drafts have been reduced, and the conditions that cause ice damming have been significantly improved.

Sewickley, PA Crawl Space Repair

This homeowner had strong odors coming from her crawlspace as well as called floors above in the winter. We removed all of the underperforming fiberglass insulation and cleaned out all of the tutor causing debris. Next we insulated and encapsulated the crawlspace. Finally we installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to keep the humidity at a safe level. The owners reported back that they are amazed at what a huge difference it made in their home. The nasty others are gone and the floors are warm in the winter! Success!

Brodgeville, PA Attic Insulation

Brian called Home Environment Solutions to help improve the comfort in his Bridgeville, PA home.   The Home Environment Solutions team arrived and got to work.

The attic had old insulation that was not installed well.   This was causing heat loss making the home uncomfortable and expensive.   The attic was air sealed including constructing a cap for the kitchen soffit to stop air and heat loss.   An Attic deck was built and insulated with SilverGlo and then adding a thick layer of blown in cellulous.
