Attic insulation in Dunkirk, MD

Brenda called Complete Home solutions after another year of uncomfortable conditions in her Dunkirk, MD home. In the winter months, she struggles to keep it warm, and in the hot summer months, the upstairs is unbearable.  Following a Home Energy Audit, conducted by one of our trained Home Comfort Specialist, it was determined that the condition of the home's attic was the main culprit in the home's uncomfortable home. On the day of the job, our Home Comfort Technicians began air sealing the attic with fire block spray foam.  The spray foam is applied to our recessed light covers, top plates, and any outlets in the attic to ensure that the air you pay to heat or cool stays in the living space of your home. The next step in this attic was to vent the bath fans out through the roof. If your fans are not vented properly, it can create moisture issues in your attic. The final step of this attic project was to blow in new Cellulose insulation, which creates a 16 inch barrier between the attic condition and the rest of your home. As you can see in this picture, we install rulers throughout the attic to show our customers just how much of a difference our insulation makes. Brenda noticed an immediate difference, even in mild temperatures, and can't wait to see how her house performs in the hot and humid summer months ahead.

Crawl Space Air Sealing in Crownsville, MD

This homeowner in Crownsville, Maryland had an issue keeping his house warm in the winter months (a problem a lot of homeowners can relate to). Unlike most homeowners, though, he was smart enough to call Complete Home Solutions to help him fix his problem.

We found that the crawl space was allowing for a lot of air to leak into the house. What do we do about something like this? It is very important that we air seal the crawl walls (we use a spray foam to do this) and install a new vapor barrier. In addition to these upgrades, we also installed a dehumidification system (that blue box in the after picture). The crawl space can now work effectively to keep the air in this home healthy and comfortable.

Skylight Tunnel in Crownsville, MD

This homeowner was unhappy with the cold air drafts that seemed to plague her house. She knew that Complete Home Solutions was the one to call to fix her problem.

We performed our home energy audit to find out what needed fixing. We found that her attic was not air sealed properly and was leaking a lot of "good air." One specific area that was allowing for a lot of air leakage was her skylight. This skylight tunnel, which penetrates through the attic, can become a serious problem if it isn't sealed right. The old insulation that was wrapped around it was deteriorating and no longer working efficiently. So, we removed that and installed our closed cell spray foam. This, along with the other air sealing and insulation upgrades we performed, creates a more comfortable and efficient home.
