Basement Insulation in Owings, MD

While an unfinished basement may seem like a tough place to keep properly insulated, there are steps you can take to keep humid summer air, or cold winter air out. This homeowner in Owings, MD called Complete Home Solutions to see what some of his options were for his unfinished basement. Following a visit from one of our Home Comfort Specialist, it was recommended to remove the old batt insulation from the rim joist, which was allowing air to creep in and out of the basement, and replace it with spray foam to create a solid 3 inch barrier. The homeowner noticed an immediate difference, and now feels comfortable storing any item in his basement regardless of the temperature or humidity outside.

Spray Foam Insulation in Owings, MD

Chris was finishing the unfinished basement in his Owings, MD home. The current layout of the basement had fiberglass batt insulation in the wall studs, which acted as an insulator for the space. When the decision was made to completely finish the basement, Chris decided to use spray foam to seal and insulate the interior and exterior walls. Our 2 part closed cell spray foam hardens to 3 inches to create a solid insulated barrier to anything it's applied to.  An added bonus to the spray foam is while its doesn't soundproof a room when drywall is finished over the foam, it creates a better sound and comfort barrier between finished spaces.

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Owings, MD

Tina's crawl space was causing humidity issues in the summer along with cold floors in the winter, when she wasn't sure if the problem could be fix, she called the crawl space expert at Complete Home Solutions. Following a full examination of the crawl, our Home Comfort Specialist determined that encapsulating the crawl space was the ticket to fixing the uncomfortable conditions. On the day of the job our crew began by installing our Clean space vapor barrier which when bolted to the walls of the crawl space creates a seal that prevents any moisture or pest from entering the crawl from below. Following the installation of the vapor barrier, our Technicians used a 2 part closed cell spray foam to insulate and seal the walls. This process restricts any air from coming through the vents or cinder blocks in the crawl. The final step of this encapsulation is to install a dehumidifier that regulates the humidity to a consistent 50-55%.These improvements will help the temperatures throughout the home, as well as prevent any moisture damage that may arise in the future.

New Cellulose Attic Insulation in Riva, MD

This homeowner in Riva, Maryland knew that their home was not going to be keeping them warm this winter. They felt like they could never manage to keep everybody warm (often times resorting to piles of blankets and space heaters). They got into contact with Complete Home Solutions to help them with their problem!

After a home energy audit, this is what we told them. During the cold winter months, you do not want an attic like this. What you can see is the old insulation that was already there (that insulation is NOT doing a very good job keeping the home comfortable). What you can't see are the bottom floor boards and rim joists that lack any type of air sealing. We fixed those problems (while installing our cellulose insulation) and gave the homeowner a warm, comfortable home for this winter season!

Attic Insulation Project in Riva, MD

This customer had a common area in the upstairs portion of her house. She wished she could use it more, but it was so uncomfortable that it made it hard to stay there for too long. Hoping to find a solution for her uncomfortable room, this homeowner looked for someone to come out and diagnose her problem. She heard about Complete Home Solutions and our great reputation from a friend and decided to give us a try.

Our Home Comfort Specialist found the problem when he took a trip up into the attic. He found some insulation that was rather old and had big gray spots (indicating air leakage). He brushed aside the insulation to see what the floor of the attic looked like...it was barren. This would explain why our customer's room was so uncomfortable - there was way too much air flow happening in the attic. With some caulk, spray foam, and blown in cellulose insulation, we were able to fix this attic. Now this homeowner can hang out or entertain all she wants in her upstairs living room!
