Homeowners in Silver Bay, MN wanted to gain some extra space in their home by upgrading their basement. It had some issues with water leaking and cold drafts in the wintertime, so the family contacted DBS for a free, no-obligation estimate for their home repair.

DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo is an expert in diagnosing foundation and water issues in local homes. After a thorough inspection, he proposed an interior waterproofing system with a French drain and vapor barrier. Furthermore, he recommended insulating the rim joists to keep cold outside air from entering the basement.

Our crews first completed the waterproofing project, installing over 100 feet of WaterGuard® along the basement perimeter walls. The drain system is designed to catch any moisture from the foundation's footing and will carry it to the new TripleSafe™ sump pump. From there, our team installed closed-cell spray foam to properly insulate the rim joists, and new EverLast™ windows for an energy-efficient alternative to natural light in the basement.
